New Year Do you-Annual New Years Day Hike and a Meal together
Details
A Note on Carpooling. The time listed is for the Carpool people. Let's ride together and start the New Year off right.
Go into the New Year happy with yourself and be kind to others. That is my advice. Resolutions? 88% of them fail. Do you want to be a failure when you can have complete success by not even trying?
Thinking about that suggestion I may not be the greatest life coach you could find. You would have a good time though. That is what life is about.
Here's the Forbes list of most popular New. Years resolutions ranked by popularity for 2024. With a little bit of my insight.
Improve fitness-My guy Anthony put it best “your body is not a temple, it's an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.”―Anthony Bourdain. Or as my daughter put it to her husband "My Daddy isn't here for a long time. He is here for a good time." I know I could use to lose a few, but Ice Cream.
Improve finances-“Life isn't about money, it's about moments.” – David Castain. The sooner you realize to appreciate the moments the happier you will be. Some of the happiest people I know don't have much and some of the most miserable have a lot. Enjoy the moments and people around you. Maybe you're sitting on a buttload of cash, but are you happy? I just wanted to say Buttload and this looked like a good place.
Improve mental health-"You need a little insanity to do great things" Henry Rollins. I feel I have accomplished some pretty great things with this group..... Wait! I prefer to say I am mentally creative.
Lose weight-"My Doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people there."-Orson Wells. we all want that perfect bod on ourselves, but then there is food. I like good food.
Improve diet-“Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if vegetables smelled as good as bacon.”— Doug Larson. Improve Diet? That is pretty nebulous. I mean the Sofra dinner at Calliope sounds pretty tasty, a multi course offering a food, but healthy? Does it matter? It's a classy place and a definite improvement from other places. Only problem is it is a place you bring a date. Do you want to complicate your life that much? Enjoy good food.
Make more time for loved ones-“Some family trees bear an enormous crop of nuts.”-Wayne Huizenga. This one I get. It is less oriented to the superficial and what really matters, Family and friends. I love my little nutty family.
Stop smoking-"If I had taken my doctors advice and quit smoking when he advised me to, I wouldn't have lived long enough to go to his funeral."-George Burns. Okay so this one you should probably do.
Learn a new skill-“By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may eventually get to be boss and work 12 hours a day.” *—*Robert Frost. So the reward for hard work is more work? If you know me you know I work to live not live to work. Do that. Unless of course the new skill your learning is how to safely pack your own parachute Learn that one. Work hard to learn it.
Drink less alcohol-“Never delay kissing a pretty girl or opening a bottle of whiskey.”―Ernest Hemingway. Well he's half right. One of those will kill you and the other will get you drunk. Sip your bourbon in moderation. If you drink less drink better bourbon and skip the scotch.
There's more, but forget all that new year new you crap. New year do you. Come hiking with me on New Years day. It's kind of a tradition for me.
