This might not be for everyone as most trails at Vega State Park are strictly 50" trails. And I do mean STRICT. We will be staying at Early Settlers Campground. (Liz and I have reserved 114 for ourselves already) If you want to go and want to camp at Early Settlers I would suggest getting your reservations in as soon as possible as they do go fast. You are able to ride to the trails directly from Early Settlers. Since it's a state park and you'll make reservations through the state park website you will easily be able to get directions to Vega State Park from your location. However, I would highly suggest you DO NOT take route 311 via Silt, even though it's shorter, but go all the way around via I70 to De Beque and take exit 45 1/2 Rd, CO-330 E, Hwy 330 E and 64 6/10 Rd through Collbran to the park. If it rains or has recently rained route 311 can get pretty muddy, slick and treacherous. So driver beware. And keep in mind I did say that the trails around Vega are mostly 50 inch trails and are enforced with gates that are 50 inches wide. Not 50 ½ " but 50". So now a-days that means that few CQR members are willing or able to make this trip with their 55" wide plus side by sides. We also chose Early Settlers as you can ride out of the campground and it is right on a reservoir so if you want to do some fishing you can do that too. This is a CQR member ride.
