Exploring the Physics of Black Holes

Details

Welcome to the first event of the Crossville Physics and Mathematics Meetup! We are meeting in the Plateau Conference Room of the Art Circle Public Library from 10am to noon on Saturday September 21.

I’ll be giving a presentation about black holes, going into detail including equations and calculations, but with the intention of making it interesting and understandable to anyone. There will be handouts of the material covered. Also, my mom said she’ll bring some homemade treats so even if you don’t enjoy the presentation, I am 99.47% sure you’ll like her treats! There will be some time before and after the presentation for discourse (that’s Latin for disco in case you wondered).

How black holes form, grow, evaporate and spin. Escape velocity, event horizon, relativistic effects, holographic boundary, quantum gravity, and the information paradox (Susskind vs Hawking) are among the presentation topics.
