DC Empaths: Picnic + Insights from "Atlas of the Heart" by Brene Brown
Details
Join us for a special outdoor edition of our meetup as we explore an excerpt from Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown. In this book, Brown takes us on a journey through 87 emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human, offering insights on how to better understand ourselves and connect more authentically with others.
Bring your favorite snacks, a blanket, and your willingness to both share and offer compassion. We’ll meet at picnic blankets in front of the Smithsonian Castle (see comments on day of event). Together, we’ll soak up the sun, connect, and support each other in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
We’ll start with a grounding meditation focused on vulnerability and connection, followed by a group reading of insightful excerpts from Brown’s book. Share your reflections on navigating emotions, building resilience, and fostering meaningful connections in a supportive circle.
Structure:
- Gather & Settle (10-15 mins)
- Meditation (15 mins)
- Share Meditation Experiences (10-15 mins)
- Read & Reflect on "Atlas of the Heart" (10-15 mins)
- Open Discussion & Personal Reflections (15-30 mins)
- Casual Hangout Time
