DC Empaths: Exploring True Refuge by Tara Brach at MLK Library

Details

Join us for an intimate gathering in a private room at the MLK Library as we explore an excerpt from True Refuge by Tara Brach. In this book, Brach offers a pathway to finding peace and freedom in the midst of life's challenges through mindfulness, self-compassion, and acceptance. Her insights guide us toward creating an inner refuge that helps us navigate difficult emotions and experiences.

We’ll start with a calming meditation focused on self-compassion and mindfulness, followed by a group reading of selected excerpts from Brach’s book. Share your reflections on finding refuge, embracing acceptance, and cultivating peace in a supportive discussion circle.

Structure:

- Gather & Settle (10-15 mins)
- Meditation (15 mins)
- Share Meditation Experiences (10-15 mins)
- Read & Reflect on "True Refuge" (10-15 mins)
- Open Discussion & Personal Reflections (15-30 mins)
- Casual Hangout Time
