What we’re about
Welcome, Denver Cinephiles!
Denver Cinema Club is a social group for people who love independent, foreign, and classic films. We see two or three films a week, usually at the theaters in central Denver. After watching a film, we usually go to a nearby restaurant to have a drink, chat about the movie, and socialize. It's a diverse, friendly group, and everyone is welcome.
In addition to our regular outings, we also attend special events: film festivals, trivia contests, Oscar parties, free screenings, etc. Watch your Meetup calendar for these, too.
We encourage group participation: we invite members to organize events of their own, and we have a message board and Facebook page for any film-related topics you care to bring up.
We hope to see you soon!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Gladiator II - Sie FilmCenter - Saturday, November 30 - 11:30 AMSie FilmCenter, Denver, CO
.
*** Read carefully, please! ***As part of the club's 20th anniversary celebration, we are scheduling two movie screenings: Gladiator II and All We Imagine as Light. Both are at the Sie FilmCenter, and both start close to noon. After the screenings, we will head over to Bruz Off Fax--two blocks away--for our 2:30 party. The party is a separate event; you may attend just a movie, just the party, or both.
This event is for Gladiator II, the Ridley Scott blockbuster starring Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington. You can see the trailer here and read reviews about the movie here.
We'll meet at 11:30 for the 11:45 screening. After you buy your ticket ($12, or $9 if you're a Denver Film member), look for us in the theater lounge. There will be a small Denver Cinema Club sign on the table.
The two movies end at the same time, so when the credits roll, the Gladiator folks will converge in the lobby with the All We Imagine folks and walk over to Bruz together.
For those driving, there's a parking garage behind the theater, accessible from the alley. Parking is free if you bring your ticket into the theater for validation.
See you at the Sie!

- DCC 20th Anniversary Celebration!Bruz Off Fax, Denver , CO
Can you believe it? Denver Cinema Club is 20 years old! To mark our anniversary, we're having a celebration at Bruz Off Fax, one of our favorite post-movie haunts. Join us for casual fun, movie chat, catching up with friends and celebrating the Denver Cinema Club Community! Thank you!
We'll start the afternoon with films at the Sie FilmCenter, Gladiator II and All We Imagine as Light. After the films, we'll head over to Bruz, where we've reserved the bar's "garage" for our celebration. (We created separate events for the films, which are optional. If you would rather just go to the party, that's completely fine.) Beverages and snacks will be provided.

A little DCC history: The club was started in 2004 on craigslist. The first film it saw was I Heart Huckabees, on October 28, 2004, at the Mayan Theatre. The club had its own web site back then, to track the films it saw, and where. You can see the club's movie log on the internet archive web site.
In 2011, the club moved to Meetup. The first film the group saw after moving was The Tree of Life, on July 14, 2011, at the Esquire. Click here to see what the club's Meetup page looked like in August of 2011.
In its early days, the club saw films at regular intervals--first bi-weekly, then weekly--and members voted on which film to see. When the club moved to Meetup, the weekly events became extremely popular, and members would RSVP weeks in advance to hold their spots. Around 2013, we stopped the polling--it was work!--gradually added organizers, and started scheduling multiple events a week. We now have ten organizers, plus our fabulous professor, John Anzalone, and in 2023 we hosted 164 events.
The club's original organizers have moved on, but we are forever grateful for what they started. Here's to our next 20 years!

*** Please read carefully--all the way to the bottom! ***
We have a small number of seats for a free advance screening of A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic directed by James Mangold and starring Timothée Chalamet. Active members of the club--those who attend our regular events--will get priority for the seats. When you RSVP, you will be added to the wait list, and I will move people from the wait list to the "going" list by hand. Please RSVP only if you are sure you can attend.
The studio reps have asked me to submit our guest list by Friday, November 29. If you are on the "going" list on Friday, we will expect you at the movie on Monday. Again, please RSVP only if you are sure you can attend.
Arrive no later than 6:40 for the 7:00 screening. Skip the line if there is one, and check in with the studio reps. They will check your name off their list and direct you to your seat. (They usually seat everyone in the club together, but not always.) Don't be late! If you arrive after 6:40, you could lose your reserved seat.
- Watch the trailer for the film.
- See its page at Rotten Tomatoes.
After the movie, we will walk over to Postino for snacks and drinks. If you plan to go to the movie but not the restaurant, please let me know so I can adjust our reservation.
See you at the AMC!
