On the 15th December we will be strolling from Tonbridge Castle to visit the picturesque Leigh village. The walk will start at Tonbridge Castle Car Park. From the car park we will make our way past the castle and prestigious Tonbridge School. From there we will stroll through fields and woods to Leigh. On our way back we shall wander along the banks of the Medway to Tonbridge. Along the way we will hear tales of ghostly manors, an unsolved murder in 1930s Beijing and what connects Tonbridge Castle with a stray arrow in a wood in Hampshire.

Our route will take us through open countryside, ancient woodlands, and beautiful orchards, passing some incredible landmarks:
🏰 Mount Ephraim – A stunning Edwardian estate, home to the Dawes family for over 300 years, with breathtaking gardens.
🌿 Hernhill – A charming village with roots going back to Saxon times, also known for its role in the 1838 Swing Riots.
🍏 Dargate – A peaceful hamlet, once central to Kent’s fruit farming and hop-growing traditions.
🌲 Blean Wood – One of England’s oldest woodlands, continuously standing for over 1,000 years, rich in wildlife and history.
🏞 Dunkirk – Named after the 1838 skirmish during the Swing Riots, and a village that played a key role during WWII.

On the 5th January we will be strolling from Newington to visit some of the nearby villages. The walk will start at Newington Station Car Park. From the car park we will make our way passed Newington Church walking down to Lower Halstow allowing us views of the River Medway. From there we will stroll onto Upchurch and then back through orchards on footpaths and country lanes until we return to Newington. Along the way we will hear tales of what the Devil got up to in Newington, how someone used pottery to commune with the ghost of Lawrence of Arabia and ships bobbing on the Medway full of potentially infectious individuals.

We’ll be gathering outside Seasalter Sailing Club to kick off a scenic coastal walk under the stars. Our route will take you along the stunning Kent coastline, with the sound of the waves as your soundtrack and the moonlight guiding the way.
As we walk, we’ll pass the tranquil Seasalter Marshes, a haven for wildlife under the night sky. You’ll catch glimpses of charming seaside cottages and the historic oyster beds, famous in Whitstable. Once we reach the iconic Whitstable Harbour, you’ll be greeted by its twinkling lights, vibrant fishing boats, and the chance to see Whitstable Castle lit up in the distance!
