What we’re about
Hello and welcome to IGDA DC! 👋😊
We’re the Washington, D.C. chapter of the International Game Developers Association! As you may have guessed, we’re based in the DC-metro region, but currently meeting exclusively online and excited to meet friends from anywhere or any part of the games industry! Whether you’re a dev, student, educator, critic, or just plain interested, join in our bi-monthly Discord meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month (at 6:30 PM EST!) for our Indie Game Night and Speaker Night! We can’t wait to play games together! 🎲🎮📱
If you have any other questions, please reach out to our board members (Ashley, Callen, Craig, Kyrstin, and Micha) and we would be happy to answer them! 🙋

Paul Shire from our group will be giving this talk. To see more of his work, check out his YouTube Channel! - https://youtube.com/@demondevdd
I've always loved story rich games, but mourned the lack of mechanical depth to dialog choices in having predetermined best/worst options, illusion of choice, randomness instead of objective systems and lack of feedback to players. I explain novel ways of conceptualizing the core problems in branching narratives and dialog choice mechanics and art content and some of my trial and error attempts at solving or optimizing solutions to them!
This talk will take place on the IGDA DC Discord: https://discord.com/invite/upXHsdDuQg
