Mindful Walk | In Silence | Bushland Circuit at Yarra Bend | Beginner-Friendly

Details

Welcome, fellow walker!

Every Sunday morning at 11am MelbWalks hosts a mindful walk in the bushland circuit - an oasis of native wilderness within the city of Melbourne :)

This meetup is meant to be beginner friendly - the organiser (Thomas) is both an avid walker and a mindfulness meditation expert who can "show you the ropes".

Mindful walking is easy to learn but hard to master... ironically people spend years practising but the only real way to do it is awaken right now with the mindset of a beginner...

Awakening-aside though... the good news is you will start seeing mental-health and wellness benefits immediately simply from relaxing and paying attention to your experience.

Thomas has a meditation framework called "Lightening Up"that is simple enough to fit on a business card. This framework we will teach you uses meditation not as a vehicle for spiritual-enlightenment but rather for self-actualisation...
- Brain health (with gamma brain-waves)
- Mood stabilisation
- Tolerance to stress
- Self-knowledge and love
- High-vibration energy
- Undivided presence
- Healing oneself
- Open-heartedness
- Aliveness in one's eyes
- Graceful aging

We will hand you a small card with some tips for mindfulness meditation using our framework that is intended to help you have a wonderful practice. This card is wallet-sized and is designed to be a pocket-sized guide to meditation for self-actualisation that you can take with you wherever you go - it's our gift to you :)

You are free to use our framework or if you would rather use your own approach to walking meditation (or to just simply go for a walk through the forest) that's fine too.

There is a bus-stop nearby on Johnston Street and there should be parking available on Yarra Boulevard or at Studley Park Boathouse.

We will meet at 11am at Kanes Bridge and wait 15-minutes for people to arrive.

Then at 11.15am we will start walking around the bushland circuit. You are free to walk at your own pace (we ask that people don't talk to each-other in this time). We recommend people slow-down, take their time and don't rush.

The bushland circuit is a reasonably short loop through native bushland. We chose this location because, being in nature, it's conducive to awakening. It's also close to the city and as a loop it's good because people can go at their own pace without getting "too far behind or ahead".

We will walk for 1-hour until 12.15pm. Then you are free to go home or you can come to get refreshments at the boathouse nearby.

There are many other activities in Yarra Bend that people can do after the meetup...
- Feed the ducks
- Play mini-golf
- Rent a row-boat
- Take some photos
- Get scones at the historic boathouse
- Get your taxes done early
- Check out the flying-fox colony

The attendance fee is $2 to cover the cost of administration and to help promote the group on Instagram.

If you want extra help with mindful walking give me a message on +61 430 443 795 - I would love to offer you some guidance.

- Thomas
