What we’re about
The Nottingham & Derby Social Anxiety Group was founded in November 2013 initially for the Nottingham area and expanded in September 2015 to include the Derby area. It aims to organise a variety of social events for anyone who suffers socially to make some new friends, improve social skills, gain confidence, and provide a safe and friendly setting.
The group is open to people who have an anxiety disorder, depression disorder, or a mental health problem.
For peace of mind and security this group is private. Only members can see the full content of our website.
Membership is FREE.
We aim to hold regular social events including walks, coffee and meal meetups. We normally meet outside the venue or at a point nearby, so that we can go into the venue together. If you are anxious about a meetup, please message the Event Host prior to the event.
Please ensure your profile includes a picture, ideally a recognisable one of yourself so other members can see who they'll be socialising with. Your profile needs to use your real name, the one you wish us to call you by at events, but not your full name if you don't want to.
We want everyone to enjoy themselves and we strive to ensure safe meetings, but each member must take responsibility for themselves and for any guests they bring on events; the organiser, the event organisers, hosts and members can not be held responsible for others.
Members who do not access our Meetup group website for 6 months will have their membership removed.
Remember – You are not alone, please do not suffer in silence.
