β™₯ In general, Northern Thailand is known for being more affordable when compared with Central and Southern Thailand. Living costs in Mae Hong Son are some of the lowest in the region and your Thai baht will stretch much further there. From meals and transportation to accommodation and tours, exploring Mae Hong Son is typically cheaper than spending time in other northern provinces, such as Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

▐≑►CHIANG MAI
β™₯ The city is naturally blessed with a favourable landscape and beautiful vegetation. If you love being close to nature, then Chiang Mai is the place to be. Nicknamed the "Rose of the North", Chiang Mai features immense greenery and breathtaking architectural structures with designs that are pleasing to the eye.

▐≑► PAI
Pai has earned itself a reputation as something of a hippie hangout and there are plentiful low-key accommodations, bars, and restaurants. The atmosphere is relaxed and it’s a top place to idly swing in a hammock as you admire the views and chill out. This is the city to get to our trailhead.

▐≑► 3D Hilltribe Village Trek
Tucked away in the hills of northern Thailand is where the most colourful and unchanged traditional communities can be found. Trek through forests and rural terrains to visit some of these diverse hill-tribe villages; often, each will have their own unique language, clothing style, culture/custom and belief system that differs significantly from those of neighbouring tribes.

This is the trip's highlight: the trek has no name and most hiking maps do not show any trail. Only the local village guide knows the way. Some parts are very close to the Burma border. Some section has no path. Don't worry, as there will be 3 guides from each village & our tour guide with us.

Day 1 trek - You will hike through beautiful bamboo and teak forests. At various times the hill tribe guide of that village will show you how they use all-natural resources the forest provides like making bamboo tables & benches, kettles, & your hiking pole. Jungle lunches are wrapped in big leaves. They will serve you organic fruits whatever is in harvest from their farm along the trail. 😍
Based on the no of homestays available, upon arriving at the village, you will be divided into groups of the same gender & randomly assigned to each home. Meals are from their farm & domestic animals. Toilets are commonly shared not attached to rooms. Please see the photos of the room below. Where one sleeps is like a box of chocolate. One never knows what kind of room he/she’s going to get. Some houses are better than others, but basic beds with nets will be there. Don't expect any hot shower or AC. In Dec it's much cooler in villages.
Your first night will be with the Red Lahu Hill Tribe. Next morning if there is time, they may invite you to wear their traditional costume to dance with them.

On day 2 you trekked through a pristine jungle, and do a few shallow river crossings to reach the village of the white Karen. Lunch will be some where in the jungle where you least expected. When you reach the Karen village, if there is time, do visit the special river near the village.

Day 3 is a river trek - a beautiful & cooling river. If you feel like a dip into a deeper section of the river - go for it! Today lunch will be at a village restaurant along the river. The River trek continues after lunch. We then reach the black Lahu village where we will say goodbye to our 3 village guides.

The 3-day trek has very different terrain & excitement. No technical hike, average 10 - 12km/day.
