Details

A walk in the prairie by candle or lantern light for fun and as a laid back social event. Bring an oil or candle lantern designed for outdoor use (with glass cover from wind such as a ships lantern, a miners lantern, or a hot or cold draft kerosene lantern - an indoors kerosene lantern or a candle will likely go out in the wind but it would be fun to experiment). I will have one which is enough for a small group. If someone wanted to bring a torch, that would be really fun (but if it's dripping flame we'll have to extinguish it, fire safety first!) Bring an electric flashlight for emergency use only, This event will be by flame only, for historical appeal - again, electric lights only for emergency. There will likely be star gazing as well.

This is a tentative event posted to assess interest. I have set it for next year but will change the date to soon if I get at least three people interested. Please let me know if this is something you'd enjoy! I think it's perfect for October and walking after dark by the light of a flame has a wonderful atmosphere!

You'd want to dress for cold weather and we'll only go out in nice weather.

Please post your interest in this event to the chat or messages below.
