How to deliver an Impromptu Speech (Topic)
Details
The 3rd session in our speaking programme: You'll learn how to deliver an impromptu speech with little or no warning of what you'll be asked to speak about. Believe it or not you can learn to do this and deliver a 2-3 minute speech with little warning of the subject. Examples will be given by more experienced members.
Following this we'll hold the club Topics competition to select the member who will go through to compete in the East Anglia Area Topics contest to be hosted by Colchester on 18 February.
Don't forget you can earn your Foundation Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your first season and your full ASC Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your second season. You'll then become an Accomplished Speaker of the ASC (Association of Speakers Clubs) which is a CPD accredited certificate and can be shown to an employer to verify your speaking skills. Please come along and try us out - I guarantee you'll learn a lot about public speaking :-) Coming along as a guest is free and if you decide to join us it will cost £40 per year for 11 meetings with full membership of the ASC into the bargain :-)
Felixstowe Speakers is a fantastic place for beginners to overcome their fears and take their first step on the road to speaking confidently in public. It's also an opportunity for more experienced speakers to improve their skills. We also welcome people who have a specific goal in mind - acceptance speeches, wedding speeches, work based presentations, etc.
The focus is on learning by doing and receiving feedback from more experienced members in a supportive environment. Over the years we have developed some very effective and proficient public speakers and guests are very welcome to come along to see how we work.
