What we’re about
Welcome to Glasgow Young Walkers (GYW), a walking group for young adults based in Glasgow. How young you ask? Well, we have members in their 20s, 30s & 40s. So really, anyone over 18 is welcome to join!
We have an active walks programme with a walk organised most weekends. From urban walks and Munro's to weekend trips in the countryside, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Join us to meet like-minded outdoor enthusiasts, explore beautiful locations, and create unforgettable memories. So whether you’re new to walking, or never far from the mountains, we’ll happily welcome you! On the social side we have regular pub nights as well as other events throughout the year.
We are a Ramblers affiliated group. Not a Ramblers member? No problem, you can still join us for up to 3 walks. Once you become a Ramblers member you will have access to a variety of training courses, including first aid, navigation and walk leadership that will enhance your hill skills and up your confidence levels plus a huge variety of other membership benefits.

Join Glasgow Young Walkers for a walk up the Cobbler, as per Walkhighlands, 'has the most distinctive outline of any mountain in the Southern Highlands and makes a fantastic shorter hillwalk.’
Depending on the weather, we will either do a loop walk (involving some scrambling during the ascent) or walk up and down the same way involving just stone steps. We won't be threading the needle in this walk.

- Highlandman's Hike HelensburghHelensburgh Central Train Station, Glasgow
"This short walk is a great way to explore the immediate surroundings of Helensburgh initially along the John Muir Way before joining local footpaths to Rhu. The route passes Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s acclaimed Hill House**, before heading through woodland to an ancient ***cup and ring marked rock ***and then along the Highlandman’s Road drovers route to Rhu."
This walk is best enjoyed on a dry, crisp day so I'll keep an eye on the weather leading up to the walk. Option to stay longer for lunch/hot drinks in Helensburgh before heading home.
