
What we’re about
Welcome to Glasgow Young Walkers (GYW), a walking group for young adults based in Glasgow. How young you ask? Well, we have members in their 20s, 30s & 40s. So really, anyone over 18 is welcome to join!
We have an active walks programme with a walk organised most weekends. From urban walks and Munro's to weekend trips in the countryside, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Join us to meet like-minded outdoor enthusiasts, explore beautiful locations, and create unforgettable memories. So whether you’re new to walking, or never far from the mountains, we’ll happily welcome you! On the social side we have regular pub nights as well as other events throughout the year.
We are a Ramblers affiliated group. Not a Ramblers member? No problem, you can still join us for up to 3 walks. Once you become a Ramblers member you will have access to a variety of training courses, including first aid, navigation and walk leadership that will enhance your hill skills and up your confidence levels plus a huge variety of other membership benefits.

Join Glasgow Young Walkers for a walk around the Glen Sherup horseshoe, Glen Devon, As per Walkhighlands 'A circular tour of the hills either side of Glen Sherup, including the popular summit of Ben Shee, the Donalds Innerdownie and Tarmangie Hill, and the Glendevon Woodlands. Superb views from the high ground.’

Terrain: Forestry roads and grassy upland paths, wet in places
Getting there:By car: The starting point of the walk is around an hour by car from the city centre of Glasgow.
Drivers are needed for this walk to go ahead. If you can offer a lift, please add this to the comments with the number of places you have.
Non drivers will be expected to contribute towards fuel costs.

This is a moderate hill walk which is suitable for those with reasonable fitness levels. Please wear suitable walking boots and bring your full waterproofs. Please also make sure that have plenty of food and water on you.
- Clyde Walkway, Motherwell to MaudslieMotherwell Train Station, Motherwell
Join the Glasgow Young Walkers for a low level walk along the third stage of the Clyde Walkway. This section is much more rural than the first two stages, following the river through farmland, woods and nature reserves.
Please note: we will meet at the Motherwell Train station and walk roughly 1 mile to join the Clyde Walkway. This is accounted for in the distance listed below.

Terrain: Mix of tracks and paths; some rougher sections by the river bankGetting there
By car: The Motherwell rail station is roughly 25 minutes from Glasgow city centre by car. Please note that this is a point to point walk, and drivers will need to take public transport back to their cars.Public transport: Regular trains run to Motherwell rail station.
The walk ends at Maudslie Bridge, which is a half mile walk from the village of Rosebank. This is accounted for in the distance listed above. From Rosebank, the 317 bus connects with the Lanark train station and the 243 bus connects with the Hamilton Central train station.
This is an easy walk which is suitable for those with reasonable fitness levels. Please wear suitable walking boots also make sure that you have plenty of food and water with you.
