Name: Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary: 1-mile accessible slow hike

After a long break, I am back! Let's start with a slow hike of the Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, one of my favorite spots, as an effort has been made to make the trails accessible. This gorgeous spot has extensive marshes, spillways, and a dam. The trails have benches & are well maintained. We will do two loop trails for our walk:

1. From Nature Center, All Persons Sensory Trail - flat gravel & boardwalk, wheelchair accessible, ends at the short Beech Grove Loop, which is compacted earth (a few roots). Return via the sensory trail. (0.5 mile roundtrip)
2. Pond Loop Trail (0.5 mile roundtrip), compacted earth, the end near the dam has a choice of steps or a short, inclined bypass path to return to the nature center.

We'll do each one in turn, "slow as we want to go!" Recommend closed toe, grippy shoes; wear layers if it looks like it will be chilly; bring a mobility aid if you need one (walker, cane, walking stick, etc.) and water. No pets (only leashed service dogs) and no smoking please, due to members' health issues.

Address is 108 North Street, Norfolk MA. Meet at the parking lot at 1 PM, trail start at 1:05 PM (if you are late, follow us on the sensory trail). I will have a sign. **Note there is a small fee (pay at the nature center) as this is a Mass Audubon park: $4 for adults, $3 for seniors.** (Free to Mass Audubon members, or with DCR Parks Pass, ConnectorCare, EBT, WIC cards, and self-identified Indigenous people).
