- Let's Go "Into the Woods"Whitaker Center for the Science and Arts, Harrisburg, PA
Come see Theatre Harrisburg's production of the musical "Into the Woods" at the Whitaker Center. We'll attend on a weeknight with half-price tickets that cost $20. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m.
This Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim was also made into a Disney live action movie a decade ago by director Rob Marshall. The Oscar-nominated film starred Emily Blunt, James Corden, Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, and Meryl Streep.
Inspired by the Grimm Brothers' fairy-tales, the story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. Along the way, they find that no one is alone.
