What we’re about
KC Explorers is a group of people exploring the greater Kansas City metropolitan area and all the different things it has to offer. Here are some other things to know about us:
- You need to be age 50 or older.
- Both single people or people in a relationship are welcome. If you’re single you may meet someone at the group, but please respect that “no means no.” Also, if you want to bring a friend and the event doesn’t allow you to sign someone up, enter a message in the comments or contact the organizer. It may be an error.
- Open to ALL people regardless of gender, sexuality, and ethnicity. Diversity is awesome!
- We are open to all kinds of activities. In fact, once you’ve attended an event, we have an anonymous survey you can fill out to express your likes and dislikes. This is important for helping us make decisions in scheduling a variety of activities.
- We enjoy eating and drinking at all different types of places. If you are a non-drinker, we will respect and support your right to abstain. However, we do like wine, beer and cocktails.
- We will always tell you on the event page how to easily find the group. (Our logo banner and a picture of the organizers prior to the event)
- If you are new to the group and it’s your first activity with us, come find one of the organizers so we can personally welcome you and connect you with others in the group. To further help us in welcoming you, please have a picture of you on your profile…we will be looking for you.
- When possible, we will always include time for mingling and conversation. We won’t force you to talk, but please know this is how you make friends.
- If something comes up and you can’t make it, we understand; however, please have the courtesy to change your RSVP and/or leave a comment on the event page.
- We applaud vaccination and err on the side of caution; however, we are not the vaccine police and ask that you not attend if you are feeling unhealthy. Some events will be indoors and it is up to you if you want to wear a mask.
- We want to avoid all controversial topics, because quite frankly, they are a buzz-killer.
- Above all, we want to laugh, have fun, and make lots of friends in a safe atmosphere. All three of those require respect and an open mind.
If you come to an event and you feel someone is not adhering to the above guidelines, please speak with one of the organizers and we will address it. For offenders, one warning and then the next time you’re out. (After all, this isn’t baseball.)
