Leaving from Old Nature Center Parking Lot promptly at 9:00!

It takes a trained eye to find the quiet magic of Latta Nature Preserve as we head into the awakening months of spring. Fortunately, our volunteers are skilled at finding and teaching on the wonders that make their appearance in the spring. This is a moderate, brisk hike. Be prepared to cover up to 4 miles in two hours. Hike will start no later than 9:05am at a new location each time.

Don’t have a garden of your own? Looking to get your hands dirty? Come see what it takes to maintain a native plant garden! Be prepared to weed, mulch, or prune the Quest landscape while enjoying the company of like-minded plant people. No experience necessary. All tools provided.

Looking for a way to reheat those Thanksgiving leftovers? Discover how to create a fire with flint and steel while exploring different structures and methods. After nailing the basics, we’ll build a campfire in our firepit and celebrate with s’mores.

You won’t be-leaf these trees! Explore incredible trees from around the world and in the Charlotte area. Meet at Quest for a learning session, then head off to the West Branch Rocky River Greenway for an easy hike to see some real tree treasures. Transportation provided. Meet like-minded seniors who meet the first Wednesday of every month.

Congaree National Park is home to the largest section of bottomland hardwood forest in the southeastern United States. This easy hike along dirt trails and a raised boardwalk is 4 miles round trip. This trail is considered an easy trail. Bring a lunch to enjoy on the trail. Transportation included!

Start your weekend off on the right foot and explore Latta Nature Preserve. Hike through the forest to the shore of the Catawba River. We will hike 5 miles on this light-moderate trail.

Groove your way into winter with a dance party on the trails. Don’t forget the essentials: hiking boots and glow sticks (provided!). Dance the night away on 2 miles of Latta’s trails while enjoying the night sky and funky tunes.
