What we’re about
"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf" -Jon Kabat-Zinn
In life we are faced every day with waves of uncertainty. From the bills, work, family issues and more it's easy to become overwhelmed and get pulled under by the waves. Through mindfulness and mediation practices we can learn to surf the waves instead of drowning in them.
The Buddha taught that ultimately everything we experience is unsatisfactory and subjective to change. What is young will grow old, warm sunsets will turn into cold nights, we will experience illness, sadness, pain and more. However he didn't tell us all that without also showing us the way out.
Wether you seek mindfulness as a way to ease the stress in your life or you seek a deeper connection to a spiritual path, Learning to surf is here for you!
The group is lead by host Adam Asdel and Co host Art Burns. Adam is a Buddhist practitioner who has studied the Buddha's teachings for the last 10 years while Art approaches mindfulness from a scientific/ evidence based perspective. Together they explore where these two approaches meet and help others to cultivate both mindfulness and spirituality into their daily lives.
