Let’s Discover Wine’s August tasting was an enormous success. All worthwhile wine tastings are comparisons among similar wines - so you can learn the differences among them.

Wow! Did we learn! We tasted, at the same time, Cava (Spanish champagne), Cre’ment (French Champagne from outside the Champagne area), and true Champagne. I expected them to be very, very similar, even though true Champagne is aged longer.

The Champagne was very different - heavy and creamy. Personally, I did not like it nearly as well. Not enough acid for me, and I found the heavy cream texture to be somewhat unpleasant. But some others enjoyed the heavy viscosity. To each his own!

We also compared 2 wines that are made in a cheaper way - and it showed.

And we ended up with a fabulous special “ancient method” very sweet wine that was so perfectly balanced that you didn't even notice the sugar - a far cry from sweet California dribble laced with MegaPurple.

Those of us who attended this tasting had a chance to truly understand different sparkling wines. Will you ever get another chance like that!

THIS IS A REVIEW OF LAST NIGHT'S TASTING - NOT PLANS FOR THE FUTURE!
