What we’re about
Welcome to Letsgoand...?. We are a friendly walking and 'adventure' group, covering the North West area.
Our aim is to link up like minded people who want to have fun and adventure... mostly we're involved in walking, hiking, scrambling and related adventures such as wild camping and navigation. However, if opportunities for adventure elsewhere crop up; then that's just fine by us!
This is how it all works. An event organiser decides that they would like to go out on an adventure somewhere.... they do this a lot! They also decide that they'd love to have some like minded people along to join in the fun! They put the event up on to the site, provide a good description and suggestions regarding equipment needed, difficulty of the event, start times, etc. Then, if you decide that you would like to join-in, you just send a YES RSVP. The host will not say to you, "you can't come because..." as we feel that it's good to experiment and seek out new things, so we don't want to impose unnecessary restrictions.
However, this is an important point, the decision to join-in must be yours and yours alone. You are responsible for you! The Host will offer guidance, insight and advice but in the end the decision to join-in is yours. This means that you should make an effort to fully understand the event, the route (if it's a walk or scramble), the difficulty (worth doing some research on-line) and any equipment required.
Safety must be your priority so please read an event description carefully and match it to your ability before deciding to attend. Please make sure that you have necessary equipment to complete an adventure safely; mainly being water, water proofs, walking boots, food, warm clothing layers, head torch and the occasional requirement for more specialist equipments such as crampons, ice axe, rope and climbing harness. If in doubt about what is required for an event, please contact the Event Host who will be very happy to offer advice so that you can make an informed decision.
In order to support the costs of the 'MEETUP' site, we make a charge of £1.00 per person attending each event. There is absolutely no intention to make a profit and, should there be any surplus, donations will be made to one of the Mountain Rescue groups.
