de Minett mining history: from Blast Furnace in Belval to Esch to Tétange (18km)

Dear hiking friends,

let's explore south of Luxembourg with its mining heritage. There is 90 km long de Minett trail with several mining spots and science centres, however either closed or open only on Sunday due to off-season.

Saturday 16 November 2024

1. meeting in Belval Avenue du Rock'n'Roll and visit BLAST FURNACE BELVAL (tours from 10-16, without a guide, entrance 5 euro per adult)
   Blast furnace Belval - Minett Tour

2. follow the MINETT TRAIL
   2.1 Belval - Rédange - Esch-sur-Alzette Gare (6.5 km)
   2.2 Esch-sur-Alzette Gare - Tétange Gare (11.95 km)
   Minett Trail Stages - Minett Trail

Meeting point:
Avenue du Rock'n'Roll - bus stop "Esch/Alzette, Av. du Rock'n'Roll" of bus No.15 at 10:05.

How to get there:
I suggest taking train from Luxembourg Gare Centrale to Belval Gare (Université) direction Rodange or Pétange, for example

9:32-10:05 RB6859

How to get back:
At the end we take a bus 508 or combination of bus and train from Tétange to Luxembourg City around 15:30-16:30.

We will stop regularly for drink and food.

The responsibility is on your side, please do not underestimate equipment (warm cloth, walking shoes, raincoat, food, water) and good mood. Weather forecast: partly cloudy, temperature 4C, probability of rain 8%, high humidity.
