Beginning Meditation

Details

Interested in developing and strengthening your mindfulness practice? Whether we have been practicing for 10 days, 10 months, or 10 years, we always approach meditation with a beginner’s mind. In this informal evening sit, Beginning Meditation provides guidelines for posture and developing non-judgmental moment-to-moment awareness. How we approach the path is important to developing a healthy practice and this class offers the an opportunity to create space in our lives, ask questions and share experiences with others on the path with us.

The class starts at 6:00pm. We usually do a check-in to see how everyone's meditation practice is going. Then there is some brief instruction and encouraging discussion, then we sit for 24 minutes. We do another check-in after the sit has ended to hear about everyone's experiences. We usually wrap up a few minutes after 7.

You do not have to RSVP to attend. This event brings together members of the Lion's Roar Dharma Center and the broader Sacramento community, including us Meetup people. It's nice if you do RSVP, but it's not required. You can totally just show up and it's fine.
