Come out and enjoy some glacial scenery and help out those impacted by Hurricane Helene at the same time.
This will be a shorter hike 3-4 miles at a 3.3-ish mph rate. I do stop to take pictures so there will be stops along the way as well. We will be walking on mostly level and mostly open prairie restoration land with the exception of climbing glacial kame for those interested. A path follows below and reconnects at the other side for those not interested. There are sections of oak savannah we will walk through which are also in the process of being restored. If it turns out to be very windy we will walk on the wooded trails in the south section instead so the wind is cut some.
I will be collecting donations in the form of cleanup supplies, or non-perishable food items to take to North Carolina to assist folks with cleanup and help while they get back on their feet. I will be volunteering later in the week through Samaritan’s Purse to help folks out in Buncombe county. Donations I receive will either be given directly to folks in the area or dropped at one of the collection points for distribution to those in need.
Donations are welcomed, but NOT required to attend.
