Fancy a long weekend away hiking, camping, kayaking, mountain bike riding and good company? What better way to enjoy the summer than heading to the hills for a much needed break away.

We have organised car camping at Three Mile Dam which we will use as a base for two nights. Venturing out hiking on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning, the rest of the time can be used to do things like kayaking on the lake, mountain biking up the passes, swimming in the lake or simply sitting with a good book or your knitting and enjoying the mountain air.

Wood for a fire

Three Mile Dam campground has picnic tables, barbecue facilities, carpark, toilets. Sites are not marked and power is not available.

As we are booking this in advance we will keep our fingers crossed for great weather that’s not too hot, not too cold and no fires. This area is within Kosciuszko National Park it is very high and remote we must be prepared for snow and other extreme weather.

Three Mile Dam campground is located in the Kiandra Selwyn area of Kosciuszko National Park. Roads from Snowy Mountain Highway are dirt but suitable for 2wd. A daily fee for car entry can be purchased via [Park'n Pay - NSW Government](https://parknpay.nsw.gov.au/)

To get there from Canberra via Cooma, Adaminaby and Kiandra:

* Drive from Canberra on Monaro Hwy. At Cooma continue on Snowy Mountains Highway 6.8km from Cooma, turn right to stay on on Snowy Mountains Highway towards Adaminaby. Continue 46km to Adaminaby where the big trout is
* Drive 37.7km west of Adaminaby, along Snowy Mountains Highway
* Take the Kiandra-Cabramurra Road turn-off (signposted Link Road)
* Three Mile Dam campground is 5.8km on your right
