For that past few months members of the MMFC have been representing the rest of us for DJ Trivia at Henry’s Place in Okemos. The team, which is named “Food For Thought” and has operated under the guidance of a group of very fine folks, did well enough during the regular season to place in the big tournament on 17th and 18th of November! And our esteemed member Robert has kindly agreed to host a team to try to win it all! Can you help out?
The semifinal of the tournament is on Sunday night, 11/17, from 630pm to about 830pm at the Irish Pub in Lansing. We are allowed a team of 7 total — so I hope you are able to pitch and win! You don’t need to be experienced in trivia — just willing to help out and be of good cheer :) This is all for fun!
IF our team places in the top half of teams in their “heat” on Sunday, then the team will be asked to return on Monday, 11/18, for the final. Although it is preferred if you are free both 11/17 and 11/18 for dinner at the Irish Pub (in case we make it to the final), we understand it is last minute so please don’t feel bad if you can only participate on one of the two days.

I cannot count the number of times that, in random conversation about Indian food in the Lansing area, someone has mentioned this place and I have said to myself, “I really need to try Paradise out”. Well, it seems like, now is the time. This place seems to specialize in biryani (my friend from Calcutta says it is “very solid”), but also has lots of other dishes, including stuff from the south. Their full menu is here.
The plan is to meet at 545pm, which should give folks time to eat and then participate in trivia at Henry’s if they are so inclined. But, of course, the main purpose of the meal is to eat, chat, and simply have a great time together :)

It doesn't matter -- you are qualified to participate :) Basically, if you have lived, then you are qualified to participate and help out!
Henry's Place in Okemos has fairly solid food, featuring a great beverage list and a menu that includes lobster rolls, oysters, and a bevy of other well cooked dishes.
This is a team event so please update your RSVP ASAP if your plans change.
Trivia starts at 730pm and lasts around 90-100 minutes so we should be done a little after 9pm.

- Thai Extravaganza at Horrock’s!Horrocks Farm Market, Lansing, MI
Sooooooo many folks have told me that Eato Chef, the Thai food truck at Horrocks Farm Market, had the best pad thai in town. I finally got out there this past Saturday to try it and, I have to say, it was awesome and I am inclined to agree :) The noodles were super fresh, featured lots of great spice, and tasty. The cool thing is that the spice level ranges from 0 (no spice) to level 7+, which includes a “stupidity tax” for buying food no one could handle LOL!
NOTE: If you don’t like pad thai, Horrocks also has pizza and a myriad of other tasty treats!
The plan is to meet near the truck at the store at 6pm and place our orders. Usually there is a 30 minute wait (or so) for food, depending on how busy it is at the store. During that time we will locate a table and have time to shop at the store. How you decide to use the time while we wait for food from the food truck is up to you. Fortunately, Horrocks has a solid beer garden that can provide libations for you while you wait for, and enjoy, your food.
