What we’re about
Have you been just waiting to share the music you love with others in the world?
Does talking about your recent faves with a group and being ready to hear what others have been listening to sound like a fun way to spend a few hours once a month during the early evening hours through a Zoom call?
(We might get together more frequently if the demand is there.)
How do we proceed?
Track presented.
Group listen.
Ten-minute group discussion.
Rinse and repeat.
With everyone entitled to at least 1 track share with many more possible depending upon group event size.
Then you've come to the right place!
To begin, let's stay tried and true to the genres included as descriptors: alternative rock, indie rock, folk music, and the rest with the understanding that hybrids with other genres will seep in as the sharing commences.
Let's avoid genres like traditional pop music, metal, screamo, hip hop, and of course, the promotion of YOUR band unless you play original and new music. Jazz and blues are great but casting the net too wide may take us off our "rock-sharing" mission.
Sharing something with millions of YouTube listens is likely NOT the best use of the group's time unless you think there's something special and distinctive that you don't think others have been exposed to.
And let's limit our choices to music issued (not necessarily recorded) within the last five (5) years.
Here are two of my shares as an example:
I'd be loathe to share a track from The Cure's new collection called "Alone" with over 1.8 million views but I think it's such a work of art that I MUST share it as one of my favorite tracks of the year.
At the same time, I'd strongly recommend a track called "If It's Gone" by Austin's Good Looks with powerful lyrics, a killer guitar bridge, and something great I just can't put my finger on.
So, how about it?
Are you willing to give this a try?
Then sign up, rock out within the comfort of your home, and join something kinda sorta revolutionary.
