No book selection to read and discuss this month. To celebrate the winter season and the passing of another year of great reads, we will gather for a Book Exchange on Wednesday, December 4th.

12th Annual Winter Book Exchange and Holiday Gathering -- The holidays can be a very hectic time of year and so, instead of trying to squeeze in reading a book during the holiday season we are going to do a Book Exchange as our December meetup.

What to bring with you on 12/4:

\-\-\- 1\. BOOK\* \- Each member brings a WRAPPED/BAGGED etc\. new or gently used/pre\-loved copy of a book that they have Read\, Enjoyed & would like To Gift to another club member in this book exchange\. \(Exchange details below for those who are not familiar\)\.

THREE CRITICAL ITEMS related your BOOK selection:
• A) SHORT NOTE: You MUST include a note explaining the reason you selected this book for the exchange;
• B) BOOK MAY NOT be one of the Books we've read for this book club during 2017 - 2022 AND
• C) NO Religious or Explicit material.

Details re: the Book Exchange: This is NOT a Secret Santa exchange as you are not selecting a book for a particular club member. You may have heard this type of gift exchanged referred to as a "dirty Santa gift exchange" -- I assume because of the "stealing" involved -- anyway... For this exchange all of the wrapped packages will be placed together on a table. We will play a game/do an activity to determine who will go first and then randomly select numbers determine the remainder of order. The member who selects No. 1 will go first - let's call that person "Member #1". Member #1 will choose one package from the table of gifts, unwrap the package and read the note from the gifting member aloud to the group. Then it is Member #2's turn. Member #2 must then decide if they would like to select a wrapped gift from the table or if they want to “steal” the book Member #1 has received. (No, Member #2 cannot select a book and then decide, the decision must come first.) If Member #2 decides to steal the book from Member #1 then Member #1 passes the book along to Member #2 and selects another unwrapped gift from the table and reads the note from that gifting member aloud to the group. Then it is Member #3's turn and the process of either "stealing" another member’s book or selecting a wrapped gift from the table and reading the enclosed note aloud to the group continues in this fashion until all members have a received a book. Maximum number of times a book may be "stolen" is twice. FINALLY, we return to Member #1 (think of the saying 'the 1st shall be last') who may then choose to "steal" any book that has not already been stolen twice or they may choose to keep the book they have. It sounds more complicated than it is, I promise! I'll go over this process again the night of our event.
