What we’re about
Contra Dance is a community American Folk dance. It's danced to live music played by many of our north bay musicians. Dances are "called" by a caller who will do a walk-through of the simple figures at the beginning of each dance. Dancers each have a partner as they progress up 2 parallel lines, dancing both with their partners as well as with others in the line.
Beginners can take advantage of a 30 minute class that will be given before dancing starts. You can come by yourself or with a partner. After the class, you'll be able to get the basics and dive right in. During the evening, dancers will typically switch partners with each dance.
Our dances are held in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, and San Rafael.
Currently, we require proof of COVID vaccination and 1 booster. At this time, masks are required.
