Details

Meet Turtle Rock Community Park. Use the parking lot off Turtle Rock Drive. The leaders will be in the parking lot off of Turtle Rock Drive, NOT THE TENNIS COURTS.

Easy to Moderate hikes, 4-7 miles, round trip on rocky, hilly trails in the San Joaquin Hills.

Depending on attending leaders: Two hikes, one easy and one moderate.
Some of our leaders have been leading hikes in this area for 20-30 years. We will explore all around French Hill and at different times to keep it interesting, take the Shady Canyon trail or hike on over to Bommer Canyon. While it is not entirely clear where the name "Turtle Rock" comes from, there is a rocky outcropping on Rockview Drive at the northern end of the neighborhood that is now maintained as part of an association park. This rock has the shape of the front of a turtle's carapace and is sacred to the Gabrieleno Native Americans.
Bring water, light hiking boots.
OPTIONAL TAILGATE AFTER THE HIKE. BRING SOMETHING TO SHARE.
