What we’re about
All our day walks should be easily accessible for Manchester, Sheffield, East Midlands, West Midlands, West Yorkshire and many with good rail links even from London and the South.
Browse our Meetup site and you'll find lots of cracking walks and one or two bike rides as well.
We also have a big schedule of low cost weekends away throughout the year summarised at the link below.
https://www.peakmeetupgroup.com/weekends
We're a group for all ages and stages and I guarantee you'll be made very welcome at any of our events.
If unsure about anything please ask.
Although everyone can join our group without charge, we are a a subscription based group which means that rather than make a charge for individual walks or require members to join the Ramblers Association to take part as some walking groups do, we levy a recurring Annual Membership charge of £10 or offer Life Membership for a one off payment of £35 but we allow your very first THREE MONTHS ABSOLUTELY FREE after which you need to make a decision about your continuing membership of the group. (Free period does not apply to re-joining members)
Full details are at:- https://www.peakmeetupgroup.com/membership
Most of our active members have at some point taken out Life Membership of the group but once achieved requires no further membership payments throughout the life of their membership.
We understand that new members may be little uncomfortable at parting with payments no matter how small without knowledge and experience of our lovely group so also give THREE MONTHS UNCONDITIONAL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE from the date of payment on any subscription payments you make.
The kitty we generate through membership payments enables us to offer a massive program of budget weekends away and to pay our Meetup Fees, Liability Insurance and other expenses. All our activities are entirely NOT FOR PROFIT and none of our organisers or walk leaders draws any income whatsoever. Any income surplus is ploughed back into creating new events.
Please note that we do consider it essential for our group where members do meet each other 'live' that new members should use a sensible screen name that they expect to be addressed by and that they are prepared to upload/show a recognisable profile picture of themselves on our Meetup site.

See all- Welsh 3000 Challenge Weekend 2024YHA Snowdon Ranger, Caernarfon£123.00
In order to complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge you are required to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 elapsed walking hours, without using any form of transport.
The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total. Some will do this without stopping though it is more common to spread that 24 hours over 3 days of walking. It's still a very tough feat starting each day at the point you finished on the previous day.
Day 1 is an especially long walk, Day 2 includes Tryfan and Day 3 includes Crib Goch so plenty of challenge for everyone.
If you are not up for these very tough objectives, it is not an event for you. Participants are expected to take part in all three days or none at all so please bear that in mind when making arrangements.
Overnight accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights is provided alongside group members taking part in our Snowdon Celebration Weekend based at YHA Snowdon Ranger.
Due to the linear nature of the walks we'll be organising a taxi ride each day to get you in the right place. These will be charged at £8 per day per person and this amount collected when balances are paid.
All food is provided from Friday dinner to packed lunch on Sunday but we have no staff as such so help is needed with preparation and clearing up on a voluntary basis. We do cater for most dietary requirements and preferences but please ask if unsure. All main meals are included but we don't normally provide biscuits, cakes or desserts so if you want to bring some of these to share that would be lovely.
YHA Snowdon Ranger is situated on the Beddgelert to Caernarfon road but is in an isolated spot with no pub or shops nearby so any drinks required need to be brought with you. Yes, we do stay up late, play board games and card games and will have a bit of music and dancing on Saturday night. so if you are a sensitive sleeper ear plugs can be a good idea.
For new bookings the full cost of £123 including the allowance for taxi rides over the weekend needs to be paid when you book, to which must be added Meetup booking fees if booking through Meetup. You can also pay / book using BACS without Meetup Booking Fees but please tell us you are doing this so that we can manually add you to the attendee list.
If you have previously paid a deposit, the balance of £93 which includes the allowance for taxi rides over the weekend was payable by BACS 12 weeks prior to the event being 5th July 2024 so now overdue.

- Snowdonia Walking Social and Celebration Break 2024YHA Snowdon Ranger, Caernarfon£89.00
We have quite a lot to celebrate this year. Having come through the pandemic to be stronger than ever we now find ourselves TEN YEARS OLD as a group which is a great achievement. It is likewise an amazing TWENTY FIVE YEARS since Gordon started organising walks and weekends away and still going strong!
This therefore is our Celebration weekend for those things and why not celebrate them alongside Snowdon and Snowdonia where we can offer people their choice of fabulous routes up Snowdon and other walks besides and celebrate on Saturday Night as well.
We have amended this writeup slightly towards this objective and haven't forgotten our commitment to offer the Welsh 3000 Challenge as well which we have now posted as a separate event. There are still a small number of places available for that too.

This is therefore for everyone NOT doing the Welsh 3000 Challenge. Both groups share the same accommodation and domestic arrangements.
We hope to give participants the choice to tackle any of the main paths up and down Snowdon including Pyg, Miners, Watkins, Rhyd Ddu, Lanberis, Snowdon Ranger AND Crib Goch (if you have the confidence and ability to tackle the latter). We might also tackle the Nantile Ridge and easier walks in the area as well.
