Welsh 3000 Challenge Weekend 2024

Details

In order to complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge you are required to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 elapsed walking hours, without using any form of transport.

The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total. Some will do this without stopping though it is more common to spread that 24 hours over 3 days of walking. It's still a very tough feat starting each day at the point you finished on the previous day.

Day 1 is an especially long walk, Day 2 includes Tryfan and Day 3 includes Crib Goch so plenty of challenge for everyone.

If you are not up for these very tough objectives, it is not an event for you. Participants are expected to take part in all three days or none at all so please bear that in mind when making arrangements.

Overnight accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights is provided alongside group members taking part in our Snowdon Celebration Weekend based at YHA Snowdon Ranger.

Due to the linear nature of the walks we'll be organising a taxi ride each day to get you in the right place. These will be charged at £8 per day per person and this amount collected when balances are paid.

All food is provided from Friday dinner to packed lunch on Sunday but we have no staff as such so help is needed with preparation and clearing up on a voluntary basis. We do cater for most dietary requirements and preferences but please ask if unsure. All main meals are included but we don't normally provide biscuits, cakes or desserts so if you want to bring some of these to share that would be lovely.

YHA Snowdon Ranger is situated on the Beddgelert to Caernarfon road but is in an isolated spot with no pub or shops nearby so any drinks required need to be brought with you. Yes, we do stay up late, play board games and card games and will have a bit of music and dancing on Saturday night. so if you are a sensitive sleeper ear plugs can be a good idea.

For new bookings the full cost of £123 including the allowance for taxi rides over the weekend needs to be paid when you book, to which must be added Meetup booking fees if booking through Meetup. You can also pay / book using BACS without Meetup Booking Fees but please tell us you are doing this so that we can manually add you to the attendee list.

If you have previously paid a deposit, the balance of £93 which includes the allowance for taxi rides over the weekend was payable by BACS 12 weeks prior to the event being 5th July 2024 so now overdue.
