Wild Walk on Saddleworth Moor from Crowden
Details
At just under 14 miles and bagging a number of "Ethels" including Pillar, White Low, Tooleyshaw Moss and Black Hill (Soldiers Lump) this is no easy stroll especially in October but it is an absolute delight.
Once we reach Soldiers Lump we head away from all the official paths into a Peak District Garden of Eden that is Holme Clough. You can walk in the gorge but you will probably get your feet wet or take the higher ground. Either way we eventually reach Birchen Clough by Greenfield and Dove Stones Reservoirs and the official path that is even less distinct in places that takes us back South to the Chew Reservoir and Pennine Way route back to the start.
Bring a torch just in case we get held up!
NOTE earlier start time than usual due to the nature of the walk.
Please take LOTS of pictures and upload them to this Meetup page so everyone can see how much fun you had.
Due to restrictions in the open access areas, this walk is not suitable for dogs. Sorry.
Lift sharing is strongly encouraged, just leave a message below if offering or asking for a lift.
We do not wait for latecomers!
