Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Coworking for writers in your area!
Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area.When you show up, say hello to everyone and get your writing tools ready. I will lead quick introductions (name, what you're working on) for the first 10 minutes and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session (60 minutes).
Afterward, we’ll have time to socialize and get to know each other. Maybe you'll find a writing buddy with whom you can share each other's work. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers, but if you don’t have time to stick around, no worries!
If you're running late, no worries! Just come in and quietly start writing, and we'll have a catchup at the end.
A note about the format

WiFi free if you've got a library card or get a visitor pass from the library desk.
Travel / Parking info: Parking should be pretty easy given the time of day, but there is a free lot across the street from the library for 2 hours.
We'll be meeting on the second floor upstairs in the mezzanine meeting room. Hopefully I will have posted some signs or left some breadcrumbs (lol!) so that you can find your way. If lost, just ask at the desk. Welcome!

If you RSVP and then don't show up twice, you will be dropped. Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. You're not required to read your work. In fact, this is discouraged under this format. This is so that people feel safe to come to this writing group. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area. (You can, however, read your work with a writing buddy after the meeting ends on your own time if you have reached that stage in your personal development :) !When you show up, say hello to everyone and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions, simply your name and what you'll be working on, short and sweet, and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session.
Afterward, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries!
