Soul Song Brisbane East Pop Choir Rehearsal

Soul Song Choirs are non-religious, funky pop choirs for people from all backgrounds and with all levels of musical experience to come together in Brisbane, Cairns and online because they love to sing.
Our members are teachers, electricians, nurses, lawyers, business owners, students, retirees and retail workers. Some have a heap of musical experience when they come to us and some have none.
Everything about Soul Song is designed to make life easy for you. We know you're busy so there are no committees and no expectation for you to come to every single rehearsal - you just come when you feel like singing.
What's even better is that there are no auditions and you don't even have to be able to read music. We teach all the songs by ear in a fun and relaxed atmosphere and we provide you with all the lyrics you need as well as some additional resources for those who want to practice on their own during the week.
The songs we sing are generally pop songs from all eras but with some traditional gospel, motown and soul thrown in. We sing, generally, in three or four part harmony and with either professional backing tracks or a cappella (which means without instruments).
We are on a mission just to get people singing by providing a fun and funky space for people of all musical experience to sing together music that is good for the soul.
But be warned - we play as hard as we sing!

THE REHEARSAL EXPERIENCE
Soul Song Brisbane East rehearses pretty much every Thursday, although we do take the odd week off during school holidays so please check our events to make sure there's a rehearsal on before you come along.
New members from teens upwards are welcome at any time - we have quite a few mums and daughters / mums and sons / dads and daughters / sets of sisters too so it's a great way to stay connected with your family and have fun together!
We start singing at 9.30am but we are set up and ready to go from 9am so you are welcome to come in early and say hi before the rush. You can even make yourself a cuppa while you're waiting (BYO mug and tea or coffee - we provide hot water, sugar and milk).
Those who come the most often get the most out of Soul Song but there is no expectation for people to come every single week and we have lots of resources available for those who miss a week or a few to help them catch up if they want to. You'll get more information on this when you join.
We will give you a folder and all the lyrics you need once you've signed up. Then each week you come, you just need to bring some water, a highlighter, pen or pencil, your folder and reading glasses if you're of that kind of age!
Soul Song Brisbane East rehearses on Thursdays from 9.30-11.30am at Bulimba Community Centre, 1 Barramul Street, Bulimba.
Your first rehearsal free so you can check us out without losing anything other than a couple of hours of your time. From then on you can pay by the term (which equates roughly to a weekly fee of $15 standard or $10 concession) or on a casual basis on arrival each week, so you're only paying for what you use ($20 standard or $13) for concessions). In addition, upon sign up, there is a one off admin payment of $25 which includes your lyric book, USB with all resources and a car sticker.

PS - don't worry if there are only a couple of people marked as 'going' on the Meetup Event. This isn't the primary way we manage our group, it just helps new people find us. We have an average of around 40 people at most rehearsals so it's a great, safe space to come and check us out!
