Book club meeting for Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder:
*One day, the mother was a mother but then, one night, she was quite suddenly something else...*

*At home full-time with her two-year-old son, an artist finds she is struggling. She is lonely and exhausted. She had imagined - what was it she had imagined? Her husband, always travelling for his work, calls her from faraway hotel rooms. One more toddler bedtime, and she fears she might lose her mind.*

*Instead, quite suddenly, she starts gaining things, surprising things that happen one night when her child will not sleep. Sharper canines. Strange new patches of hair. New appetites, new instincts. And from deep within herself, a new voice...*

I read this one before, but I admittedly don't remember very much about it and want to read it again anyway because the movie adaptation releases on December 6th, 2024. When will we get another chance to read the book AND go see the movie? So, I'm bumping this book into our December slot. (Please note: Our previous December read, My Dark Vanessa, has been bumped to March!)

I will create another event for this month for anyone who is interested in seeing the movie and maybe grabbing lunch or drinks or something after to discuss further? Field trip!

Our meetings are typically two hours. The first hour-ish will be specifically about discussing the book. Please keep conversation about THIS book. Once discussion starts to fizzle and we're out of things to say, I'll introduce the next book. Then we have our social hour, talk about whatever we want, get to know each other, etc. until we get our checks and head out for the night. We are here to talk about the book of the month, but we are also here to make friends, so I try to make sure there is time for both! In some rare cases, the book discussion is so good, it might take up the whole two hours, but that doesn't happen too often.

When the time gets closer, I will set up a reservation under my name and give you the info. Please feel free to order as much or as little as you want! I try to pick places that have range so people can spend to their comfort level.

I will have a tip jar with me (cash and Venmo) if you enjoy the event and feel like pitching in anything to help with costs for the Meetup app. No pressure at all! Any contributions are greatly appreciated because Meetup is annoyingly pricey.
