Over 38 million Americans (11.8 percent) lived in households that struggled against food insecurity, or lack of access to an affordable, nutritious diet. This represents a 9 percent increase from 2019.1 in 7 (14.8 percent) households with children could not buy enough food for their families, considerably higher than the rate for households without children (8.8 percent).
Last year alone 8.5 Million Meals were provided to kids through our Backpack Buddy, Kids Cafe, and School Market programs from Houston Food Bank.
This is limited to 20 participants however if there is more interest I can update our group number. Kids over the age of 6 are welcome to come and volunteer as well but must be attended by an adult. Please wear closed-toed shoes, comfortable clothes, and bring a water-bottle. Afterwards we will go unwind with a drink and a bite to eat.
