What we’re about
The Arizona Mountaineering Club was founded in 1964 for the purpose of promoting and teaching safe rock climbing.
Our Mission is to provide educational opportunities, climbing experiences, advocacy to protect our climbing resources, and stewardship of the Arizona Outdoors by promoting volunteerism and community engagement.
Today the AMC has over 300 members who are involved in all aspects of rock climbing, mountaineering and various other outdoor sports. AMC members range from the occasional weekend climber to those who attempt the highest mountains around the world.
If you already have climbing skills and experience, join other members on some of our regular outings – a great way to meet new friends and discover new climbing areas.

The event will be on flat ground. Plan on practicing this material after the class, soon & often, until it will repeat under pressure. There are worlds of material we cannot cover in a short course.

- Sam Foreman presents- Off-Width Climbing and Annual Elections!!Link visible for attendees
We lost Sam Foreman from the valley after he moved to Moab, Utah! He has been climbing most recently in Greece, and he is kind enought to share his insight, knowledge and experience on another aspect of climbing in this Zoom meeting. So, read on....
From Sam: "If you’re still reading this after seeing “off-width” in the title, please stick with me. Off-width crack climbing may be the most putrid, vile and hated form of all climbing BUT… I would like to explain why you should explore this style of climbing and why it is definitely going to improve your overall climbing abilities. Sure there are lots of good reasons why you shouldn’t get into off-widthing, but there are a surprising amount of reasons on why you should. Please join me for my off-width sales pitch as well as a tour of some of the amazing Arizona off-widths that would make a perfect project for you. I hope to see you there!"
Election results will be announced at this meeting!
The medium: We'll be meeting via Zoom, so once you RSVP to this invitation, you should be able to see the link to join the meeting. If you need to download Zoom, please do that ahead of time at www.zoom.us. (It's free to sign up.) Then you just need to follow the link a few minutes before the event starts. You can use any smartphone, tablet, or computer that has audio and video capabilities. Put this date on your calendar!
