Hi Ladies,

It's time to try something new: paint your own pottery! Since I'll be in Belgium, Romi will host this event.

What?
Get in touch with your creative side and paint some pottery. Pick a pottery item of your choice at Artsy Me and paint it at their location in Evans. They have many different items to choose from in different price categories. It takes 3-7 days for your piece to be fired. Christmas is coming up, so this could make a nice present with a personal touch :-)

When? Saturday, November 16 at 10:00 SHARP

Cost?

$2 to pay for the MeetUp fee

Prices range from $12 and up. This includes paint, pottery, firing, and glazing.

Keep in mind that you will NOT get to take your pottery home immediately. It needs to be put in the oven first.

Register:

This event will be limited to 6 attendees. After this, you can put yourself on the waiting list.

You have to pay a deposit of $5 to Romi by 11/01. Contact her for payment info.
On the day of the event, Romi will give you your $5 back, so you can use it towards your pottery item.

If you register and do not pay the deposit by 11/01, you will be removed from the event.

If you are on the waitlist, payment of the deposit will not be required, unless your status is changed to "attending".

Let's go hiking! Congaree trails sometimes get flooded. If you register for this hike, please check 1 day beforehand whether or not we're going. If the trail is not accessible, I'll find another hike instead.

Where? Congaree National Park, 100 National Park Rd, Hopkins, SC 29061

When? Saturday, November 23, AM

What? a 6.7 mile loop through the park (Oakridge Trail)

How & timing?

carpool from Evans: get together at 8:15AM sharp at Walmart parking lot across from the gas station, 4469 Washington Rd, Evans, GA 30809. We'll carpool from there and decide on the spot who will be driving. (Please pay your driver for fuel.)

drive on your own: get together under the visitor center breezeway at about 9:30AM at Congaree National Park, 100 National Park Rd, SC29061 Hopkins (depending on traffic, but please leave on time!)

The hike will take about 3h (depending on pace, picture breaks, ...), so it will end at about 12:30PM.

I know I'll be hungry by then, so if you're carpooling with Romi & me: we'll have lunch somewhere along the way home.

We'll arrive at about 3PM (or 4PM or 5PM). There are to many variables, so we'll go with the flow.

Cost? $2 cash (to pay the Meetup fee)

Extra info:

It's about 1.5 hours drive, so save the planet and try to carpool.

Put in the comments whether you're carpooling or driving by yourself please. If you don't, I'll assume you're not coming (which means we also won't wait for you at Walmart or at the park).

The trail is flat, but might be muddy. Wear appropriate footwear.

Hi Ladies,

We talked about this run during today's hike (March 2) and several of you want to participate. I'm putting it online now, so there is plenty of time to train. Challenge yourself!

So far, Romi will run the 5K. Ari, Jackie S. and V will run the 10K. If you are joining us, please put it in the comments below if you're doing 5/10/21K.

What? Palmetto Peach Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K

Where? SRP Park, North Augusta

Cost? none for HWOA / $35-$60, depending on the distance
(You will get a medal & a sweatshirt.)

This event is NOT organized by the HWOA.

Please consider wearing your HWOA T-shirt though.

If more than 5 people sign up via this link, I will get a $20 discount which I'll use to pay for the HWOA-Meetup fee.
