- Plyometrics for Runners - Indoor WorkoutNorthwoods, Shorewood, WI
Plyos are a 'winter' cross-training workout for runners. OMG plyometrics are held in the sub-basement gym at Northwoods and build leg strength and resilience for many sports including running. The weekly workout starts with group exercises followed by a series of hurdle and jumping exercises. Any athletes any age can benefit from plyos.
The videos below show some of the exercises we do. Don't be scared. Anyone, any fitness level, can do plyos.
How to Find Us
Park in the parking lot behind Northwoods. Enter though the east side door on Newhall St. then down the steps. Look for the "OMG Plyos" sign on the door.
This workout help prevent running injuries by build strength in muscles you don't use while running. Runners who fail to cross-train are more likely to suffer over-use related injuries. Plyos help prevent this. We will make you sweat and fulfill your cardio needs!

- Track Workout @ The Pettit Center500 S 84th St, Milwaukee, WI
Heads-up: Pettit Center track will be closing early (6:30pm) to accommodate another group. We'll need to be heading out shortly before then. This requirement will persist until March, we'll put updates here on start / end times.
Get out of the cold/snow and come and run with us on the indoor track!
The Pettit Center has a ~440m indoor track that circles around a long track speed skating oval.
What does it cost?
The Pettit center charges $4 for admission. Make sure you stop at the desk and get a wristband when you arrive. BLS members get a 50% discount. By far the best deal is to buy a 10 pack with the BLS discount for $18. 10 packs never expire and can be used to buy admission for multiple people.
We highly recommend getting a BLS membership if you are planning on running a lot at the pettit as it comes with a ton of other benefits beyond discount admission and pays for itself in one ten pack purchase.

It's usually about 42 degrees. Short sleeves/shorts are usually fine with some long sleeves/pants or tights for warmups/standing around.
What workouts do you do?
Depends on how close we are to South Shore marathon. December workouts will be as little as 1-2 miles of speedwork (3-4 total miles of running). March workouts might be as much as 3-3.5 miles of speedwork (6-8 miles of total running). This is usually interval or tempo workout. Occasionally we'll do time trials to see how we're improving.
Example workouts are 12*400 or 2 min/1 min on/off 35 min fartlek.
Do I have to be fast to show up?
NO! Everyone is welcome! The workouts are designed for all ability levels and can be easily modified. You can also just come, hang out, and run laps. Plus, we run in circles so you'll never really be running alone. Just show up!
