Every Friday afternoon, we welcome all our members and the DLC-curious to come work in our café. This includes working on your laptop, studying Dutch, or doing another quiet activity like reading. The options are endless!
-WHAT DO WE DO?-
Whether you need someone to body-double to meet a deadline or just want a change of scenery, co-working with us is bound to be gezellig. The idea is to really work and be productive, but also to collaborate or socialize during breaks. We have high speed internet and work-fuel like coffee and cakes available at the bar!-SCHEDULE-
- 12:30 – Co-working starts. This event is not strictly timed, so feel free to pop in when your schedule allows.
- ~16:00 – Co-working ends, but socialising continues. Let off some steam with ping pong, games, or a friendly chat.
-DUTCH LEVEL-
During the events we speak Dutch as much as possible. We talk slowly, it is ok if you make mistakes, and we are happy to help you, but we try to speak mostly Dutch. The events are therefore good for people who already have a basic level and want to practice more. Are you a beginner or do you still find the idea of a group activity in Dutch intimidating? Please bring along whatever you are working on, or borrow a book from our library. You can also buy drinks or a cake/empanada from our bar. There are plenty of plug-points, but it doesn’t hurt to make sure your devices are charged before arriving :)-COST-

During this “chat moment,” you can meet new people and at the same time practice your Dutch in an informal way. We provide fun games and a chat jar with interesting questions and topics to kick off the conversation. In the café, we also have knitting and art supplies if that’s your thing. Dutch Language Café hosts a Pub Quiz every Friday from 19:30. The quiz starts at 20:00 and lasts until around 21:30.
At DLC, teams are formed randomly, so feel free to come alone or with a few friends and meet new people.
The quiz questions are asked in both Dutch and English, and you can answer in either language. It's a fun, fast paced quiz with a range of topics!

Every Wednesday and Saturday night we play board games!
-WHAT DO WE DO?-
We have a whole collection of board games specially chosen to help with conversation, and at the same time are great fun! There is one for every level of Dutch, for example ‘Memory’ for beginners and ‘Cards Against Humanity in Dutch’ for advanced players. For those who are more into tactical games, we also have games like ‘Catan’, ‘Ticket to Ride’, ‘Exploding Kittens’, ‘Azul’ and so on! There is something for everyone.
Even if you are not a “board game geek,” there are fun, simple games to play too!-SCHEDULE-
- 19:30 – 20:00 Start activity, have a chat and a drink
- 20:00 – 21:00 Split up into small groups (we try to put a native speaker in each group) and play board games while talking Dutch
- 21:00 – 22:00 If you want you can stay for ping pong or just talk

Do you love reading? Come to our Silent Book Club! Every first and third Sunday of the month we read together in silence and occasionally chat in Dutch about what we are reading. Reading is a great way to learn a language and very good for your mental health :)
-WHAT WILL WE DO?-
Every first and third Sunday we come together to read in company. We meet at 14:30. We do silent reading until 16:00. The last half hour, from 16:00 to 16:30, is an opportunity to talk about what you have read. We have a wide range of books available, from A0 to C2 level, so there is something for every language level!-SCHEDULE-
- 14:30-15:00 Order a drink at the bar and find a seat. Say hello.
- 15:00-16:00 Silent reading hour. Please step outside to chat.
- 16:00-~16:30 Share book recommendations or just keep reading.

We ask an entry fee of 9 euros (native speakers 6.00) to cover costs. Native speakers pay a bit less as a sign of appreciation for their help with the language. - Stadswandeling | City Walk in Den HaagDutch Language Café, The Hague
Are you looking for a way to get more active, get to know the city better, and practice your Dutch/help people with Dutch in a relaxed atmosphere? Join us for our city walk!
WHAT WILL WE DO?
We gather at the Dutch Language Café at 14:00. When everyone is there, we will set off for a nice walk through the city. You can pick up a map at the café with different walking routes to choose from. The group will decide together which route to take. The walk lasts between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the chosen route.
At around 15:15, we will return to the café to enjoy coffee and cake together.SCHEDULE
- 14:00 – Meet at DLC and choose a route
- 14:15 – Start the walk (follow the route map)
- 15:15 – Return to DLC for coffee and cake

Are you a movie lover? Then come to the film night at DLC!
-WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?-
Every third Thursday of the month, we organize a cozy film night at DLC. We always watch a Dutch film, with Dutch or English subtitles. The film starts at 7:30 PM, but you are welcome to come earlier.-SCHEDULE-
- 19:00 – Gather at DLC, chat and have a drink
- 19:30 – Start of the film (be on time so you don’t miss the beginning of the film!)
- 21:30 – Discuss the film and its themes
- 22:00 – End of the event
-THE FILM-
For licensing reasons, we don't publish the title of the film online. But we are very happy to tell you if you come along to the café! You can also sign up for our newsletter to find out what the film is each month.-WHAT TO BRING-
